Mary Kate Abner
Mary Kate Abner is an award-winning actor and filmmaker from North Carolina, based in New York City.
She is the creator, co-writer, and star of the upcoming narrative mini-series Girl Failure, set to release on YouTube in 2026.
As an actor, she has worked across film, television, and theatre, with collaborators including A24, Apple TV+, Showtime, HBO Max, Clubbed Thumb, the Kennedy Center, and the New Victory Theater. Her acting work spans independent shorts, network television and feature films, and new theatrical development.
A graduate of NYU Tisch and Steinhardt, Mary Kate also works as a filmmaker and producer. Her years of experience in the camera department and teaching elementary school students have deeply informed her work as an actor and storyteller. Projects she has worked on have screened at festivals, including Cannes and the SOHO International Film Festival.
